Discover Puerto de la Cruz Beaches
Playas Puerto de la Cruz consists of two beautiful sandy beaches located on the north coast of Puerto de la Cruz: Playa del Castillo and Playa Maria Jiménez. These beaches are set within an area designed in 1990 by the renowned Canarian artist César Manrique.
The layout includes a scenic promenade surrounded by gardens with native plant species. Visitors can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere with playgrounds for children, cafes, and restaurants on one side, while the dark volcanic sand beach stretches out on the other.
On clear days, the view from the beach includes Pico del Teide, the highest mountain in Spain, and the island of La Palma.
It’s also worth visiting the historic center of Puerto de la Cruz, and the sunsets here are also a must-see.
Facilities & Services
Both beaches are equipped with essential amenities to ensure a comfortable experience for visitors. These include:
- Showers and toilets available free of charge.
- Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for rent at a small fee.
- Lifeguards are on duty daily, ensuring safety despite the occasional strong currents and large waves.
It is important to note that the beaches can get crowded, particularly on weekends and public holidays. The dark volcanic sand, with occasional small pebbles, offers a gradual and safe entry into the water, making it an ideal spot for swimming, though caution is advised during rough weather.
How to Get Here

Parking is available for free, with spots along the street behind the beaches or in a larger parking lot around 500 meters from the first beach. However, on weekends and holidays, finding a parking space can be challenging due to increased visitors.
Alternatively, you can take a bus. The bus numbers 354 or 381 will bring you to the Playa Jardin bus stop, which is within walking distance of the beaches.
