Discover Playa de las Gaviotas

Playa Gaviotas is one of the most beautiful beaches on the north-east coast of Tenerife. It features fine black sand and a relatively calm ocean. The beach is situated at the foot of the Anaga mountain range cliffs, offering a wild and natural environment.

The entrance to the water is gradual, but because of the black sand, it’s hard to see the bottom clearly. There are no protruding rocks in the water, making it a safe place for swimming. The waves here are usually pleasant—not too big, but just the right size for some fun in the water.

This beach is a favorite among locals from Santa Cruz, weekends in summer can be crowded. The best time to visit is during the early part of the day and at low tide when the beach is at its largest and the sun shines brightly. At high tide, the beach narrows and becomes crowded, and in the late afternoon, the sun is behind the mountain, making the beach a bit darker.

Facilities & Services

As a wild beachPlaya Gaviotas has no sunbedsshowerstoilets, or. restaurants. The only facility available is a trash bin, so it’s recommended to bring your food and drinks if you plan to spend time here.

The beach is not officially nudist, but it’s tolerated—same for dogs. It’s a relaxed and free-spirited spot for beachgoers.
