Discover Piscina Natural de Los Abrigos
Piscina Natural de Los Abrigos is a natural ocean pool located in the south of Tenerife, created entirely by nature, formed by flowing lava that flowed into the ocean.
The only human intervention is a ladder, that makes it easier to get in and out of the water. Bathing is mostly safe, there are no undercurrents in the pool and it is deep enough even at low tide, but be careful at high tide and with big waves, always check the forecast before you decide to come here.
The natural pool is relatively small so it can be crowded, especially on weekends and holidays.
Facilities & Services
You can lie down on the rocks around the natural pool, but it’s not very comfortable, there are no sunbeds, umbrellas, toilets, showers, bar, restaurant, or trash cans, so what you bring here you take away and don’t leave any traces.
How to Get Here
You can park directly in Los Abrigos or along the road near the banana plantations to shorten the walk to the pool.
By bus take numbers 410, 470 or 483 and get off at the bus stop at Los Abrigos.
One of the paths leads from the town of Los Abrigos.
From the harbour it is about 20 minutes by walk: the first walk goes through the town along the ocean, but the longer part along an unpaved road is not suitable for people with reduced mobility, prams and wheelchairs, and good footwear is recommended.
The last part of the path goes down through the rocks with caves, where hippies live. Don’t be afraid of them, they are harmless, but honestly, sometimes there is some trash around.
